The Knoxville Football defense will be different this year. The Panthers will go from running a three/five the last few seasons, to a base four/three. The change was made so that the coaches can give the players every opportunity to be successful. Players already say it is simpler to run and simpler to learn. Head Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it will also give his team a chance to blitz more and get after the quarterback.

Dunkin: “Coach Cole has been really doing a nice job with that. I think it’s going to help the guys on defense and giving them an opportunity to pin their ears back and get after the quarterback and the other team’s defense.”

The Panthers will open up at Newton on Friday. You can hear that game live on 95.3 KNIA at 6:30.
