August is the month of Take and Make Kits at the Pella Public Library. This month they are offering several that have been popular:

– Botanical Burlap – a kit that provides burlap, needle and thread to gather bits of nature and preserve them in a creative project.
– Stitch Meditation – take a moment to relax with needle and thread – there are no rules, only your imagination.
– Bookmarks to Color – these bookmarks, printed on old card catalog cards, were designed by library patrons for others to color. Ask about the opportunity to create a bookmark to be included in a future kit.
– Card Catalog Lantern – use old library card catalog cards to create an illuminated piece of art.
– Nature Walk Bracelet – take a walk in nature, gathering bits of leaves, flowers, seeds and grass along the way, and preserve them with this kit – it can be a bracelet, bookmark or window decoration.

All are free and available at the front desk. Check out the display case this month for examples of how the kits have been used. Contact the Pella Public Library at 641-628-4268 with any questions about the kits.
