Rebecca Vittetoe, Field Agronomist with the Iowa State University Extension Office, talked about some important facts that came out of the drought meeting held Wednesday at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office in Knoxville.
Vittetoe said, “There’s different programs available through the FSA, so make sure if you haven’t visit with those folks, CRP has been released for emergency haying and grazing but there’s some upcoming deadlines for doing some of that I think August 31st is one of those headlines, so people haven’t visited with FSA office to make sure that they do.
Meeting topics included drought impacts on crops and forages, how to manage livestock and drought-stressed forage.
