Democratic Party 1st District Congressional Candidate Christina Bohannon held a town hall in Indianola Sunday, visiting with voters about their concerns. Bohannon tells KNIA News she has heard from multiple voters that their concerns have been about inflation, like much of the country. And she says she would have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, which Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted against, even if it came from the Republican Party, because it works for Iowans.

“It is a situation where good social policy is actually really good fiscal policy. It is going to reduce the deficit more than any other piece of legislation in over a decade. So that argument just is hollow, there is no substance behind it. They can say that, they have to justify their terrible vote somehow, but the fact is it is great for Iowa, it is great for our economy, it reduces the deficit and it does in fact lowers costs. It lowers costs on energy, on fuel, on healthcare, so on the very things Iowans need help with it works.”

The town hall was part of a multi-county tour around south central Iowa.
