The Simpson Storm men’s soccer team picked up an opening season win on the road against Augustana Thursday 1-0, while the Storm women scored a late goal to earn a draw against Illinois Wesleyan 1-1.
The Storm men got a goal from Mateaus Lewis in the 15th minute as the Storm took a 1-0 lead, and that lead would hold for the rest of the contest as keeper Kegan Tribilcock saved two shots to keep the clean sheet. The Storm improve to 1-0, and will travel to Cornell on Sunday.
The Storm women fell behind 1-0 early, and wouldn’t find the back of the net until Jordyn Foelske hit a shot in the 82nd minute. Keeper Lani Mears saved five shots to salvage the split, as the Storm are now 0-0-1 to start the season and travel to St. Catherine tomorrow.
