The Pleasantville, Twin Cedars, and Melcher-Dallas cross country squads traveled to Leon Tuesday to run in the Central Decatur XC Invitational. The Trojans girls team came in third place, while the boys team finished in 5th place, and Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas didn’t have enough runners to place as a team.
Pleasantville’s girls team was led by freshman Carly Gripp, who brought home a 14th place finish with a time of 23:33.41. Sophia Mason also finished in the top 20 coming in 18th, finishing the course in 24:05.08. Kyleigh McConnell just missed the top 20, coming in 21st with a time of 24:36.52. For the Trojans boys team, Kurt Kuhnen was the top runner with a 9th place finish (18:35.86). Jenkin Fulmer also was inside the top 20, finishing the course in 20:10.27, and coming in 19th place.
While they didn’t score as a team, Twin Cedars girls cross country squad had two of the top 5 finishes at the meet. Rylee Dunkin won the event while breaking the course record with a time of 20:00.87, and Cheyanne Bruns came in fifth place finishing the event in 22:20.44. The Sabers lone boys runner Noah Fee finished 45th place with a time 23:55.93.
Addison Wadle was Melcher-Dallas’ top runner in the event, coming in 15th with a time of 23:39.91. The Saints’ only other runner Hailey Stegman was 23rd with a time of 24:51.51.
Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas next run on Monday at the Pleasantville Cross Country Invitational, while Twin Cedars is off until Tuesday when they run in the Oskaloosa Invitational.
