Both the Pella Christian cross country teams and the volleyball team will be in action on Thursday. Eagles Cross country heads to Ames to run in the Gilbert meet at Iowa State, while the volleyball squad stays on Eagle Lane to host Woodward-Granger.
The Pella Christian cross country teams are coming off great performances this weekend in the Pella Dutch Invitational at Central College, where both teams came in 2nd place in the small schools division. Kaden Van Wyngarden was 9th place among individuals, which catapulted himself into the individual rankings and the Eagles into the team rankings in Class 2A, both at #14. Additionally, both the Pella Christian boys and girls squads shaved a full second off their team average times from the Pella Dutch Invitational last season.
Competing at home this evening against Woodward-Granger, the Eagles volleyball team is only a night removed from their first Little Hawkeye Conference win of the young season over Grinnell. Both teams enter tonight’s non-conference match with a 3-5 overall record. Pella Christian has won both of the prior two meetings between the two schools in the Varsity Bound era, with the most recent victory being in August of 2020.
The Eagles girls cross country team kicks off all the action Thursday running at 5:45 p.m., followed by the #14 ranked Eagles boys race around 6:25 p.m. Pella Christian volleyball then wraps up the evening’s festivities with their match at 7:15 p.m.
