The Central College football team closes out the non-conference portion of the 2022 schedule with a second straight home game today, hosting the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The 13th-ranked Dutch opened the season with a convincing 44-13 win over St. Olaf (MN), while Eau Claire rallied for 30-27 victory over Loras.

The Blugolds play in Division III’s toughest conference, the WIAC, and while they finished seventh out of eight teams last year, Dutch head coach Jeff McMartin knows it’s going to be a big challenge today.

“They’re going to play with a lot of confidence and swagger, and we have to be who we are”, McMartin said. “We’re built to play the game a certain way, and we have to play it like that. One of the things we take a lot of pride in is playing really hard, playing the game with passion and having fun out there. As a coaching staff we need to keep putting our guys in position to make plays, and then it becomes a players game. They have to go out there and do it.”

Game time is 1:00 at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. Trevor Castle and George Wares will call the action live, beginning with pregame at 12:35, on 92.1 KRLS, the free KNIA/KRLS app and CentralDutchNetwork.com.
