For the second consecutive season, the Pella Christian volleyball team went 2-2 at the Des Moines Christian Volleyball Tournament.
The Eagles were swept 2-0 in the opening match of the tournament by Knoxville 14-21, 8-21. After dropping the first match, Pella Christian bounced back for a pair of 2-0 sweeps over Newton 21-11, 21-17, and Southeast Warren 21-18, 21-15. In the final match, the Eagles were swept 2-0 by the host Lions, who are ranked #1 in Class 3A, 12-21, 10-21.
Chloe Huisman, Ema Zula, Cara Veenstra, and Addison Bandstra each contributed 10 kills in the tournament. Zula and Huisman had 16 digs apiece, and Huisman also dished out a team high 33 assists and eight aces. Bandstra recorded five aces, while Emma Eekhoff tallied seven kills, 12 digs, and five aces.
Pella Christian has the night off tonight, before competing in the North Mahaska Invite on Saturday.
