The Pella Marching Dutch are on the way to Pasadena, California at the end of this year for the esteemed Rose Parade, and the community has shown they have their backs on the trip west.
According to Marching Dutch Director Dameon Place, approximately $210,000 was raised by the Pella community, businesses, and supporters of the band from out of town to directly offset student costs for the experience — approximately $1,000 per student. Place says additional support also came in the form of other donations to directly support students who may have financial need and to help pay for transportation expenses. He says the entire Marching Dutch community is thankful for every dollar raised, and for the incredible generosity from all of their fans across the country.
The Pella Marching Dutch were going to announce the total after a Big Reveal show tonight, but that was cancelled due to thunderstorms in the area. The Pella Marching Dutch next perform at their home invitational in exhibition on Saturday, September 24th and at homecoming on Friday.
