Aidan Driscoll’s 37-yard field goal with one second remaining lifted Loras to a 38-35 upset victory over the 12th-ranked Central College football team Saturday in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Central took its first lead of the game, 28-21, when Brady Ketchum hit Ryan Neu for his second touchdown reception of the game late in the third quarter. It looked like the Dutch were going to take control when they got the ball back and drove deep into Duhawk territory. But a fumble led to a Loras touchdown, then Ketchum was intercepted on the next drive, leading to another Loras TD and a 35-28 lead.
Central tied it when Ketchum found Jeff Herbers for a 16-yard strike, but there were still 43 seconds left in the game and the Duhawks drove for the game-winning field goal.
Ketchum was 27 of 40 for 366 yards and four touchdowns, while Neu caught 9 passes for 187 yards and two scores. The loss snapped Central’s 19-game regular season winning streak and puts them at 2-1 overall and 0-1 to start American Rivers Conference play.
The Dutch have their bye week this Saturday, then hit the road for the first time this season with an October 1st matchup at Nebraska Wesleyan.
