Aggressive serving and front line play were on point for the Knoxville Volleyball Squad Tuesday night against Clarke in the Panthers 25-11 25-13, and 25-15 sweep of the Indians. After a back and forth 1st set in the opening ten points, the Panthers went on a 13-2 run to take control and eventually coast to a win. Sets two and three were nearly as dominant as Clarke had no answer for Knoxville’s front row of Brittany Bacorn and Ella Breazeale. Senior Libero Emma Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was a good combination of offense and defense that keyed the win.
Dunkin: “Mel was on points and it was a great bounce back from the weekend and we found their holes on defense and got consistent kills.”
Bacorn had 15 kills while Sullivan went 26/27 serving with ten aces, Payton Horn had ten blocks and Hannah Dunkin had ten assists. Knoxville is now 13-7 on the season and 2-2 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers will head to Boone on Saturday. In Newton, the Knoxville Cross Country Squads ran at the 46th Annual Steve McDermott Invitational with the girls taking 7th led by Janae Baker in 9th with a time of 24:45. The boys were 8th with Isaac Rankin getting a 10th place in a time of 19:12. Knoxville will be off until next Tuesday when the Panthers host their own invitational at Pine Knolls Golf Club.
