The Pleasantville football team was unable to overcome the rainy conditions for their homecoming game Friday night, as they fell 27-0 to Central Decatur.
Despite hanging tough with the Cardinals throughout the first half, turnovers hampered the Trojans throughout the night. Central Decatur led 7-0 at halftime, after taking advantage of a short field that was set up by a Pleasantville fumble. The Trojans opened the second half with a big defensive stop, but yet another fumble led to a Cardinals touchdown. Pleasantville head coach Mack Jorth said that those turnovers along with some missed opportunities were the difference in the game.
“Those turnovers really killed us. Having our chances in the first half down there inside their 10-yard line twice and coming with no points was devastated as well and you combine those two things together and having a hard time moving the ball and being efficient and consistent all night with just the different factors at play made it pretty difficult for us.”
Pleasantville fell to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in district play and will face yet another tough test next week on the road at Pella Christian.
