The City of Indianola Rental Housing Inspection Program began in 2022, after the latest census data showed the city with a population of over 15,000 which prompted the creation of the program as required by state law.

Rental housing in the city limits of Indianola are currently being inspected, in the first of three inspection periods taking place over the next several years. These three inspection periods are determined by Ward location. Ward 1 and 3 will each be allocated seven months to inspect each rental unit. Ward 2 and 4 will be inspected together over a period of seven months.

Rental housing existing in Ward 1 is currently being inspected through Oct. 31, after which begins Ward 3 inspections Nov. 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023.

Lastly, Ward 2 and 4 will be inspected together from June 1, 2023 through Dec. 31, 2023.
