The Indianola Chamber of Commerce has been notified by several businesses of potential scams.

One of the scams involves calls received from a publishing company that indicate they are selling advertising for the creation of a Simpson College “Annual” that would be distributed to all Simpson College staff. According to officials at Simpson, they are not producing an “Annual” and believe this is a scam.

The other involves businesses being notified they have been selected as the winner of the “2022 Best of Indianola” awarded by the Indianola Award Program. The business owner has the option to purchase an award to display in their business. The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is not aware of any Indianola Award program, and this could be a company attempting to sell you an award.

The Indianola Chamber recommends that before deciding to engage with an unfamiliar company, do some research to determine the validity of the offer and/or the company.
