Pella’s football team travels to Oskaloosa tonight still in search of its first victory of 2022.
The Dutch are 0-6, but have faced the hardest schedule of the 36 teams in class 4A. It gets a little easier tonight against an Indian squad that is just 1-5. Pella coach Jay McKinstrey says that he wants it so bad for his kids to get to celebrate the thrill of victory.
“I’ve probably focused on winning too much rather than just improving ourselves and playing at a higher and faster level. I’m trying to be careful of that, because I don’t want our kids to think it’s all about winning, but I want to win so much for them. At the same time, if we improve from last week and play at a level we’re capable of playing, that will take care of itself. We haven’t won a game yet, but at the same time, we’re not a bad football team.”
Kickoff is tonight at 7:30 in Oskaloosa. Trevor Castle and Randy Sikkema will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS and the free KNIA/KRLS app, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30.
