If you still need your first Covid 19 vaccination, Marion County Public Health will have the Novavax vaccine available for first dose only on Wednesday afternoon October 12th; call for an appointment 641-828-2238.

The vaccine has been found to be 90 percent effective against the Covid 19 virus and has been approved for the initial primary doses of Covid 19 vaccinations. It should be noted that testing was completed prior to the omicron variant and it is unknown what the efficancy is against the omicron variant. 

Marion County Public Health Nurse Judi Van Hulzen talks about getting the Novavax vaccine, “That was the fourth vaccine that was authorized by the FDA for the prevention of Covid 19.”

Van Hulzen said hopefully with this more traditional version of Covid 19 vaccine, more people will be willing to get vaccinated, saving lives in the process.
