Indianola and Warren County Public Safety personnel were available to the public Thursday night for the annual Indianola Public Safety Open House in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. Activities included a taser demonstration (shown above), a model house to help the public learn about escaping a fire safely, fire safety drills, and the Warren County K9 Ringo available to meet the public.
Firefighter Jill Burrell tells KNIA News part of their job was to teach fire safety to kids, including simple tips like how to escape from a fire inside a home, not putting metal in the microwave, being careful around pots and pans on the stove, and other simple things that kids might not think about.
The Indianola Noon Lions were on location to grill hot dogs and provide a free meal, and Club President Gary Richardson tells KNIA News the Lions Club motto is “We Serve”, and that’s what the event is all about for them, serving our public safety personnel.
Donations were also collected by the Indianola Police Department to help fund their K9 program. Find more information below.
