pleasantville-3

With a playoff spot on the line, the Pleasantville football team dominated the Cardinal Comets 50-17 to secure their place in the Class 1A playoffs this upcoming Friday.

The Trojans came up with big plays in all facets of the game to roll past the Comets with relative ease. Quarterback Parker Sheets had a fantastic night, throwing for four touchdowns offensively and on special teams added a blocked punt. Trojans head coach Mack Jorth said that while it hasn’t been easy season for Sheets, he’s glad to see his senior quarterback’s resiliency pay off.

“He’s been unfortunately taking his fair share of shots this year and he’s just gotten up every single time and weathered the storms and weathered the big hits have been able to just continue to come back and come back and come back and very proud of him for that. And I’m really excited to see that we could have a big night for him because he’s very deserving of it. So, it was a lot of fun seeing him where he’s at now is very cool. So, hopefully he can just keep that going and we can do some fun things in the playoffs under his leadership.”

Dayson Leerhoff, Jonah Schumacher, and Yusef Gulley were on the receiving end of the four touchdown passes from Sheets, and the defense added a safety to propel Pleasantville past Cardinal.

Pleasantville end the regular season with a 4-4 overall record and a 2-3 district record and will find out today who they will face in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs this upcoming Friday.
