A round of frigid air will impact the area Monday and Tuesday. Daytime highs will only approach the low-to-mid 40s Monday and Tuesday across the region — nearly 20 degrees color than average for mid-October.
Morning lows on Tuesday and Wednesday could get as cold as 20 degrees — with wind chills even colder possible. While the area has experience a hard freeze, any remaining seasonal or sensitive vegetation won’t survive the early season burst of cooler air.
A fairly quick turnaround is in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service, as highs will climb back up into the mid-to-upper 60s by Friday.
