The Norwalk volleyball team swept their way to a first-place finish at Saturday’s Winterset Tournament, closing out the regular season with five wins and a set record of 10-0.
The Class 4A eighth-ranked Warriors cruised through pool play, defeating Chariton 21-9, 21-10, Gilbert 21-18, 21-17 and South Central Calhoun 21-15, 21-14.
In bracket play, the Warriors beat Webster City 21-19, 21-14, then swept Red Oak 21-12, 21-17 in the championship match. Noelle Sutcliffe had 10 kills, four blocks and eight digs in the final game, Liz Iverson tallied 21 assists and nine digs and Grace Dehmer had 10 digs.
Norwalk finished the regular season with a 23-10 overall record and a share of the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season championship. Following a first round regional tournament bye on Tuesday, the Warriors will host either Glenwood or Sergeant Bluff-Luton in a Class 4A, Region 1 semifinal Thursday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m.
