Two officers were promoted to Sergeants for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. It is the first time since Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt has been Sheriff that he has had Sergeants on his staff. Promoted to the rank of Sergeant were Deputies Jared Van Wyk and Isaac Short
Van Wyk was featured earlier on KNIA/KRLS News.
Sheriff Sandholdt tells us the role Sergeant Short plays, “Isaac has actually been our lead detective. He’s our major crimes detective and he’s our canine handler. So, Isaac’s one of those well-rounded individuals, that has seen all aspects of our office.”
Van Wyk will be the Narcotics Detective while Short will be looked upon as a leader in the department along with Van Wyk. Short and Van Wyk both worked with other deputies prior to joining the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Sandhodlt said they will both be counted upon for supervisory roles.
