The Indianola City Council approved a partnership with the Iowa DOT to receive a grant for the Hillcrest Ave project, which is part of a larger effort by the city to expand the industrial park area. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the road was identified as a high-demand road that needs better infrastructure to serve the city.

“This is a joint DOT/City of Indianola project to basically take Hillcrest, which is a high-use local road, and expanding that to be a true collector road that has the structure built enough so it can handle the truck traffic going out to our industrial park. This will allow us to expand the park in general. This is a widening project, a beneficial project, and is co-sponsored by both entities.”
