The Knoxville city council is looking at adding residential to the ordinance pertaining to vacant building permits and inspections.
Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery explains the change in wording, “Working with the community service officer recently, it has been found that there is a gap for this type of enforcement for vacant buildings that are residential. So, this is what was proposed to the city council is to keep the same ordinance that was approved last November, but to amend the definition to include residential properties as well.”
There are reportedly 96 properties within the city that currently lack some of the utilities that are potentially vacant.
