A clash of numerous nationally ranked teams had little effect on the USTFCCCA Division III regional cross country rankings.
Central College’s women’s squad remains No. 5 in the Midwest Region after an 11th-place finish at the 25-team Augustana (Ill.) Interregional Invitational Saturday at Rock Island, Illinois. The Dutch men are still No. 6 in the region after also placing 11th in a loaded 27-team field at Augustana.
The University of Chicago women won the Augustana meet and takes over at No. 1 in the regional poll with Wartburg College dropping to second. American Rivers foe Loras College is No. 4 and Simpson College is No. 7.
North Central College (Ill.), which finished second at Augustana behind the national poll leader Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) moved up to No. 1 in the men’s regional poll with Wartburg slipping to second. Loras College, which elected not to field a full team at Augustana, is rated No. 4, Simpson College is No. 7 and Luther College is No. 8.
Both Central squads are off this week as they train for the American Rivers Conference Championships Oct. 29 at Indianola.
