The Pella Fire Department showcased its newest engine with fanfare Thursday afternoon.

Members of the department drove the new Pierce Enforcer around the square for its arrival in the Tulip City as it soon enters the service.

Pella Fire Chief Randy Bogaard says the engine has parallels to the first mechanically operated truck purchased 100 years ago — and that same vehicle was also showcased with the brand new unit.

The department will be outfitting the new truck over the next week, with the goal to have it in service during the month of November.
