The Indianola football team had little trouble with the Toreadors of Boone Friday night on the road, winning 49-0 to wrap up the regular season as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.
The Indians scored early and often, with Matthew Edgington finding the endzone twice in the first quarter on the ground and quarterback Bennett Brueck found Drew Kingery for an 83-yard touchdown as they took a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, then the two found the endzone one more time to start the second quarter as Jake Pontier also rushed in for a score to get the game to 3-5-0 at halftime. Running clock in the second half limited opportunities, but the Indians got scores from Brueck finding Jack Hilton for a 36-yard score and Ethan McDonald rushing in for a score late.
Head coach Eric Kluver said he was happy to see his team do all that they needed to do to win, and get some momentum heading into the postseason.
“I’m excited for this football team and our future here. Whoever we end up playing, it doesn’t matter we are going to be a tough matchup for anyone. We just have to go play our best football, play to our potential, and we’ll be fine.”
The Indians end the regular season with a 6-3 record overall and 3-2 in district play, finishing in third place in the district. They await their class 4A postseason opponent released later this morning.
