While a postseason berth was ultimately out of the hands of the Pella football team, the Dutch played like a strong playoff squad anyways in a 47-14 thrashing of Cedar Rapids Washington, as heard live on the KRLS2 stream Friday.

As was the case against Clear Creek-Amana last week, it was a fast start for the Dutch that spurred the blowout, keyed by a sequence in which Pella scored 16 points with two touchdowns and a safety in between in just one minute of game time in the first quarter and in six plays.

The ball just kept moving from there as Pella’s offense racked up 489 yards and moved the ball at will over the duration of the contest, all while the defense remained solid, giving up the only first-string score after a big kick return following the continuous clock starting to flow in the 3rd quarter.

Kenson Fuller ended his Dutch career in style, with 276 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, which was supplemented by a 117 yard receiving performance by Cam Schulte.

Pella finishes 3-6 on the football season, outscoring opponents 131-16 in the final three contests, and they say farewell to 18 seniors.
