The Indianola Downtown Square Reconstruction Project passed a major milestone Friday afternoon, with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate all four streets of the square open to the public and the major streetside construction completed.
Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the scope of the project involved the planting of trees and plants, miles of electrical and sewer lines, and hundreds of trucks of concrete among others.
The project began in 2018 after an assessment from the Iowa Economic Development Authority did a study on the square, which indicated improvements should be made to the infrastructure and look of the square during the Warren County Justice Center construction.
