The Simpson Football team came away with their first win of the season in impressive fashion Saturday, scoring ten touchdowns en route to a 74-41 win over Nebraska Wesleyan, a game that had over 1100 yards of combined offense heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Storm built an early lead off of scores from Desmond Alexander, J Jensen, and Cam Jones in addition to a Micah Baumhofener field goal to give the Storm a 24-14 lead after only the first quarter, and the scoring didn’t stop there. Alexander found the endzone again in the second quarter, joined by Eldred Boria, Reed Worth, and Jones again as the Storm put up 51 points in the first half leading 51-20.

The Storm continued to put on a show, as Worth, Boria, and Briley Hayes would all score in the second half as Simpson put up its highest point total of the season by far, blowing past the previous high of 23. Head coach Matt Jeter said it feels good to get a win, and he feels better for the guys because they deserved a win after the hard work they’ve put in during the offseason and the season.

Jensen threw for 371 yards and six touchdowns passing and two rushing, Worth had six catches for 122 yards and two scores, and Alexander rushed for 76 yards and two scores. Simpson improves to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play, and will travel to Wartburg on Saturday.
