A combined 11 players from league co-champions Indianola and Norwalk have been recognized on the 2022 Little Hawkeye All-Conference Volleyball teams, released Tuesday by the LHC coaches.
Indianola, which finished 37-7 following Monday’s five-set loss to Western Dubuque in the Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals, earned three first-team selections and two second-teamers. Norwalk, a 4A regional finalist that finished 24-11, had one player named to the first team and one second-team selection. Two players from each squad received honorable mention.
The Indians’ first-teamers include junior libero Brynn Bishop, sophomore outside hitter and setter Aspen Nelsen and junior setter Tori Runyan. Entering the state tournament, Bishop led the team with 364 digs, Nelsen posted a team-high 348 kills and 65 ace serves, and Runyan set a team-best 823 assists.
Indianola’s second-teamers are senior middle Kailey Peters and sophomore hitter Camryn Overton.
Norwalk junior outside hitter Noelle Sutcliffe was named first-team all-conference after leading the Warriors with 363 kills and 46 aces while adding 284 digs and 42 blocks. Junior libero Grace Dehmer, a second-team selection, led the Warriors with 431 digs and served 95.6 percent.
Honorable mention recipients include sophomore Dana Blake and junior Macy Wente of Indianola and Norwalk senior Sami Aagard and sophomore Liz Iverson.
The Indians and Warriors split the Little Hawkeye regular season title, both going 6-1 in conference play. Indianola defeated Norwalk 3-1 in the head-to-head league matchup and also won the conference tournament on October 13.
