The Central College football team was in the end zone nine seconds in to Saturday’s home finale against Luther and the Dutch rolled to a 61-13 victory in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Norse tried an onside kick to start the game, and the ball rolled backwards to give Central possession at the 29-yard line. One play later, the Dutch were in the end zone on a Cooper Downs pass to Logan Mont.
Central made it 14-0 nothing when Downs hit Ryan Neu on a 20-yard TD midway through the quarter, then the floodgates opened up in a wild second period. Isaiah Walk scored on a 64-yard run, Central’s longest of the season, Brody Klein nabbed a 45-yard pick six, Neu caught a TD from Hunter Hoffman, then Hoffman caught a 10-yard pass on a trick play from Keegan Glover. Dutch defensive back Dillon Hoit also returned a blocked extra point for a two-point conversion.
In the third quarter, Grant Nelson hauled in a 20-yard pass from Glover, and Hoffman hit Carson Cummer on an 82-yard touchdown pass, Central’s longest of the season.
Central racked up 539 yards of offense as they improve to 6-3 on the season and 4-3 in the American Rivers Conference. They’ll travel to Dubuque next Saturday to close out the 2022 season against the Spartans.
