It’s a trip to Dubuque today for the Central College football team to close out the 2022 campaign against the Spartans.
Both teams are 6-3 overall, but Dubuque is 6-1 in the American Rivers Conference while the Dutch are 4-3. In fact, Dubuque still has league title hopes if they can knock off Central and Coe pulls an upset of undefeated Wartburg.
For the Dutch, coach Jeff McMartin says that it’s about going 1-0 this week and leaving the jersey in a better place.
“These seniors will be playing their last game ever. They’ve had a great career and they’ve been a part of some really successful teams and seasons. We’d like to send them out in a good way and feeling really good about what happened this year. We talk a lot about finishing strong – I’m a big believer that in everything you do in your life, how you’re remembered is how you finish.”
Kickoff is today at 1:00 at Chalmers Field at the University of Dubuque. Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS and the KNIA/KRLS app, beginning with pregame at 12:35 and kickoff at 1:00.
