Norwalk junior volleyball player Noelle Sutcliffe has been named Second Team All-State in Class 4A by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

The Warrior outside hitter tied a single-season school record with 363 kills and set a new school mark with 3.86 kills per set, helping the team to a 24-11 overall record, a share of the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season title at 6-1, and a second straight appearance in the Class 4A regional finals.

Sutcliffe’s 363 kills ranked seventh in 4A and she also led the team with 46 ace serves. Sutcliffe played all the way around for Norwalk, totaling 284 digs and 42 blocks, serving 92 percent and finishing with a .235 kill efficiency.

Norwalk coach John Fulton says it was remarkable to see Sutcliffe match Abby Brenizer’s season kill record from 2021 despite the team playing six less matches this fall and 15 fewer sets.

“She played really well,” Fulton said. “I knew that was one of her goals coming in was to lead the team and do what she could to help us win, so we’re excited to see what records she can break next year.”

Previously this month, Sutcliffe was named first team All-Little Hawkeye Conference and was joined by junior teammate Grace Dehmer on the IGCA’s Class 4A All-District Southeast team.
