Pella Regional announced that Carol Dishman is Hospice of Pella’s 2022 Volunteer of the Year. Carol, along with other honored volunteers throughout Iowa, is recognized by the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa and the local community.

Volunteers of Hospice of Pella provide companionship for patients and relief for caregivers by letting them take a break from the bedside. They help with transportation needs, including errands and rides to and from appointments. They also may help in the office and take care of the garden.

“Carol Dishman has been our faithful volunteer for over five years,” said Beth Loux, Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice of Pella. “Working quietly behind the scenes, Carol pays attention to all the details at the Comfort House. Not only does she keep the kitchen stocked with warm cookies, the house tidied and the meals delivered, but she always has time to listen and offer comfort and encouragement to patients, families and staff. Carol also makes time to help with special events and last minute errands. She is a joy and a blessing!”
