She left Pella High School as its fastest ever 5K runner among girls — and was a national qualifier for the Central Dutch in 2021. In her return trip to race among the best in NCAA Division III, Caroline McMartin earned All-American status earlier today.
McMartin placed 24th (22:31) at Forest Akers Golf Course on the Michigan State University campus in Lansing, Michigan. Caroline, a junior, is the first All-American since 2004 for the Dutch women’s program.
From 2017 to this past month, McMartin held the Pella High School record for the fastest 5K after earning All-State status. Marissa Ferebee broke that mark with a 5th place finish (18:50) at Fort Dodge on October 29th.
