The Knoxville Police Department is providing a few winter tips to abide by when the snow ordinance is put into effect.
It is unlawful for any person to throw, push or place or cause to be thrown, ice or snow from private property, sidewalks or driveways onto the traveled way or right away of streets so as to obstruct gutters or impede the passage of vehicles upon the street. Or to create a hazardous condition, or to obstruct the view of traffic signs.
Knoxville Community Service Officer Merdith Clark tells KNIA/KRLS News, “I know a lot of people don’t always have a ton of room in their driveway so we do allow residents to park in the grass as long as they are on their own property.”
There is a $10 fine for dumping snow on city streets.
