Pella first responders were recognized for multiple awards Wednesday night.

Pella Ambulance Chief Greg Higginbotham says several local police and EMS personnel were honored with the American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero award, including:
Communications Specialist Heather Malone, Lt. David Beukelman, Sgt. Shawn Veenstra, Paramedic Jordan Schmitz, Advanced EMT Courtney Gannaway, Assistant Chief Mandy Ritchey, EMTs Reid Taylor and Emma Kolb, and Paramedic Caden Hudson.

Family members Jon Edgeton and LeAnne Edgeton were also honored for their life saving efforts in assisting Nancy Krutzfield on August 20th.

Pella Police Department Chief Shane McSheehy also honored new Lead Communications Specialist Kacy Visser for helping Andy and Molly Mullen of the Lake Rathbun area during a 911 call in delivering their daughter Makenzie on Mother’s Day 2022, alongside Highway T-17 south of Pella.
