Through a partnership with MidAmerican Energy, Fareway has been able to host electric vehicle fast-charging stations in several locations. One of those sites is Fareway in Knoxville.
Fareway has long recognized the importance of conserving natural resources. Starting in 1955, the company began heating their stores by reclaiming heat generated by refrigeration compressors. Since then, Fareway has made additional strides in environmentally-friendly practices.
Perry Hager Fareway store manager in Knoxville tells KNIA/KRLS News, “This makes us the first car charging station in Knoxville.” As MidAmerican works to expand its electric vehicle charging station network, they help identify key corridors for placement. Primarily along highways, this network of charging stations is intended to serve the traveling motorist.
A spokesperson for the company tells KNIA/KRLS News, “We are proud to serve as a host charging site at our Knoxville Fareway store. Not only does this reinforce our commitment to sustainable practices, but extends the environmental care in the communities we serve.”
The Knoxville car charging site is not yet operational, Hager said check back in the near future to see when it is ready.
