The Twin Cedars Basketball Squads will head to Moulton-Udell tonight for a Bluegrass Conference meeting. The Saber girls are 3-1 after defeating Murray on Friday 36-33 in a game that while the Sabers did not shoot well, they claimed 31 rebounds, shot 68% from the free throw line and took care of the ball with just 12 turnovers. The boys, due to a quirk in the schedule, are playing the Eagles for the second straight game. Twin Cedars played Moulton-Udell on Saturday picking up its first win 59-50 after being blown out by Murray the night before. Coach Mateo Varese tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his two freshmen have started out playing well this season.
Varese: “That’s what I told them, they just need to slow the game down, they look good in practice but it means nothing if we can’t turn that into a game. We have a couple freshmen, Holden Roberts and Gavin Clarke who may be playing as good as anyone right now, and they were playing junior high last year.”
Roberts is scoring 11 points per game and Clarke is at 5.3, they both are also in the top three early on in rebounding. Tip-off from Moulton is scheduled for 6:00.
