The Knoxville Township Fire Department is putting on a Santa program for Adopting a Kid.
Applications need to be turned in right away as today is the deadline to Adopt a Kid and give gifts for children 14 years of age and younger. The applications can be picked up at The Well in Knoxville or at Stanley’s Service. Applications can be dropped off at the Knoxville Township Fire Department.
Teresa Hegwood Cowman has helped oversee the program for the past five years. After adopting a kid, gifts need to be dropped off no later than December 18th at the Knoxville Township Fire Department.
Most of the items that are purchased as gifts are clothing. Cowman tells KNIA/KRLS News that at least 150 children will be helped this year. “What we do is take applications for people in Marion County. Children age 14 and under. They fill out an application and they give us information about their children, their clothes size, shoe size and a simple wish list.”
