The Pella Christian girls basketball team came from behind Thursday night to pick up their first win of the season with a 43-41 non-conference victory at Van Meter.
The Eagles got off to a great start in the game jumping out to 7-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. The Bulldogs ended the quarter on a 7-3 run to pull the score to 10-7, and after trading points in the second quarter, the two teams entered halftime tied at 22-22. Van Meter grabbed the edge out of the intermission, outscoring Pella Christian 11-6 to enter the fourth quarter up 33-28. After the Bulldogs jumped out to a 35-28 lead a minute into the final quarter, the Eagles responded by finishing the game on a 15-6 run to pick up their first win against Van Meter since November 18th, 2017. Senior Joslyn Terpstra led the Pella Christian offense with a game high 19 points, while sophomore Faith Kacmarynski was the second leading scorer in the game with 14 points.
The Eagles’ girls basketball team improved to 1-4 overall on the season and are back in action tonight, in addition to the Pella Christian boys squad, for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader with Norwalk.
