The Norwalk basketball teams return to action tonight at the brand new NPECC, hosting Lewis Central in a girl-boy doubleheader with an early start time.
The varsity girls game will tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game at about 7:15. Both contests can be heard live on kniakrls.com (KNIA3), and will also be streamed live on the Norwalk Warrior Productions YouTube channel. Pregame coverage on KNIA3 starts at 5:15.
Following three straight losses to start the season, the Norwalk girls broke into the win column in a big way Friday night, beating Pella Christian 60-24 behind Bailey Birmingham’s 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Defense fueled the victory as the Warriors held the Eagles to nine first-half points, including none in the first quarter.
The Titan girls are ranked 9th in Class 4A and started the season 3-0 before losing to St. Albert and Blair (Nebraska) this past weekend.
Tonight’s boys game will showcase the 2-1 Warriors against the 3-1 Titans. Norwalk shot 50 percent from the field in Friday’s 54-40 win at Pella Christian, getting a combined 49 points from Braeden Carlson, Redek Born and Aidan Harder. Carlson added 13 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass.
The LC boys won their first three games handily before falling to Urbandale 54-32 on Saturday.
