The Pella High School Robotics Team won five qualification events Saturday during a league competition in Norwalk. The Bionic Dutch now stand at 9-7 for the season in the challenging Des Moines metro league.
Under the leadership of Trevor Hundt and Liam Childress, the Dutch rebounded from a slow start at the beginning of the year to capture five events while knocking off the #2 ranked and formerly unbeaten team from Johnston.
The Dutch scored valuable points in the non-driver autonomous portion of the events through a color sensing code that was written by Lead Programmer, Jackson Kroes.
Consistent driving by Design Engineers Hayden Papendick and Jack Weaver along with strategic coaching by Ryan Steenhoek allowed the Dutch to outscore their opponents throughout the day.
The Bionic Dutch compete again this Saturday, December 17th.
