The Pleasantville varsity wrestling team went 3-0 on Tuesday night at the AC/GC West Central Activities Conference Triangular. The Trojans beat Central Decatur 69-12, AC/GC 52-27 and Earlham 66-12.

Pleasantville was paced by Caleb Cook with three pins for the night along with Tyler Gibson with three pins.

In the win over the Central Decatur Cardinals the PHS squad had pins from Cook, Gibson, Carter Metcalf and Ross Stephens along with six forfeits and an 11-4 decision by Charlie Hare.

In the triumphant match with AC/GC the Trojans had six pins, one each from Blake Rowson, Cook, Gibson, Metcalf, Trevor Nickel and Silas Koenig. Toss in two forfeits and a decision by Tommy Booth.

Against the Earlham Cardinals, Cook, Gibson and Dillen Ammons all had pins. Add in eight forfeits and it was a one-sided affair for the Trojans who are 7-2 in duals.

Up next for the Trojans is the WCAC conference tournament Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at West Central Valley.

Defense falters in second half as Trojans fall to Ogden

Ogden beat the Pleasantville Trojans 54-39 in girls’ varsity basketball Tuesday evening in league play in Pleasantville. Pleasantville held a 29-23 advantage at halftime.

Joelle Johnson had 23 points for the Trojans, Hope DeMan added six points and Emmy Hiemstra added four in a losing cause.

Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, “We played poor defense in the second half.”

The 5-4 Trojans will play again Friday on the road against the Des Moines Christian Lions.

Varsity Boys win

Pleasantville snapped a four-game losing skid as the boys’ beat Ogden at home 43-38. Dayson Leerhoff had 25 points and 15 big rebounds for the Trojans while Ryder Thill netted 12 for Coach Taylor Phipps’ team.

Next on the schedule are the Lions from Des Moines Christian on the road Friday night in league play.
