The Knoxville Basketball Squads return to Panther Gym tonight for a South Central Conference doubleheader against Centerville. The boys will be playing their final game before the Christmas break and since their season opening loss to PCM have run off four wins in a row, all in the conference, and averaged just over 75 points per game. The Panthers have used defense to create offense in many of those scoring opportunities and Coach Troy Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS, after their win over Chariton on Tuesday, he is now seeing come combinations on the court that are starting to work well.

Pearson: “When we got late in the game we went to Noah and Landen and they have few more tools in the box to do that, and share the ball.”

The girls will have one more game before break, but tonight is very important to the early season conference race as the Panthers want to keep pace with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, who leads the conference with a 4-0 record going into tonight’s action. The Panthers have been led all season by the Big Three of Emma Dunkin, Hannah Dunkin, and Brittany Bacorn, but have also got great minutes from Natalie Collins, who has hit big three point shots this season and Marlea Cox, who has had extended minutes due to injuries on the team. Tonight’s action is also complimented by the Knoxville High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inductions in between games.
