Four Norwalk wrestlers went 2-0 on the night as the Warrior boys split a pair of duals at Thursday’s Newton Triangular.
Norwalk defeated the host Cardinals 65-9 before losing to Carlisle 56-24. The Warriors’ record moved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Carlisle beat Newton by a score of 69-11, improving to 10-1 on the season.
Norwalk 106-pounder Tyler Harper and 126-pounder Jake McKenzie both registered a pair of pins on Thursday, Donovan Card won by technical fall and pin at 138 and heavyweight Maddux Borcherding-Johnson received a forfeit against Newton before winning by fall vs. Carlisle.
The Warriors defeated Newton in 10 of 12 matches, scoring bonus points nine times with six pins, two technical falls and a major decision. They finished 4-10 with four pins against Carlisle.
Norwalk’s six pins vs. the Cardinals came from Harper, McKenzie, Asaiah Martinez-Ruiz, Aiden Moret, Zach Burns and Harrison Tripp.
The Warriors’ next competition will be a tournament at Pella Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

The Norwalk girls wrestling team will be in action today at the 2022 Battle of Waterloo tournament held at Waterloo’s Young Arena. The meet starts at 9:00 a.m.
