The Simpson Storm men’s basketball team defeated Stevenson 76-66 in the first game of their holiday tournament in Daytona Monday, while the Storm women fell to Berry 68-65 in overtime in Nashville.

The Storm men were behind at the halftime break 35-33, but exploded offensively in the second half, dropping 43 points to secure the victory. Easton Darling had 16 points to lead the team, while Andrew Gibb had 14.

The Storm women traded blows with Berry in their matchup, trailing 16-11 after the first but leading 27-26 at halftime. Berry came out and built a 44-37 advantage going into the fourth, but the Storm fought back and forced overtime, where they fell just short. Cassie Nash and Anna Wanek each had 15.

The Storm men are now 8-2 and play Muskingum today, while the women drop to 2-7 and play Franklin today.
