The Norwalk basketball teams will wrap up the December portion of the schedule tonight when they travel to Des Moines Lincoln High School for a girl-boy doubleheader on 94.3 KNIA. The varsity girls game will start at 6:15 p.m., followed by the boys game at approximately 7:45.

The Warrior girls enter the contest with an overall record of 1-5, including four losses against teams that are currently or were previously state-ranked in Class 4A. Sophomore Bailey Birmingham, who scored 27 points in Friday’s loss at 9th-ranked Indianola, leads Norwalk with averages of 18.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Des Moines Lincoln currently stands at 3-5 overall with three of those losses coming against state-ranked Class 5A foes.

The Warrior boys basketball team is 3-2 overall, having lost a pair of hard-fought conference battles with Pella and unbeaten Indianola. Junior Redek Born leads the team with 18 points and 3.2 assists per contest while senior Braeden Carlson averages 16 points and 8.6 rebounds. The Railsplitters are 2-3 on the year, including two metro losses by a combined four points. Lincoln junior guard Trovary Cavil is currently one of Iowa’s top prep scorers with impressive averages of 24.6 points and 7.2 assists.
