At 5-1, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad has already equaled last season’s win total. The Panthers are currently on a five game winning streak heading into the break with a ton of confidence. That said, Knoxville knows it can be better as the Panthers hit January in a couple of weeks coming back on January 3rd in one of their biggest games in recent memory. Coach Troy Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is happy with the 5-1 start, but knows the potential of his team.
Pearson: “We played one really good game against Clarke, and the other games we’ve noticed that we have a lot to clean up. We’ve talked about how we have a lot of things that we can improve on to be an even better basketball team.”
Pearson lists rebounding, also better offensive execution play being better at taking care of the ball. The Panthers are averaging 19 turnovers per game and Pearson wants that to be reduced significantly. The Panthers get back on the court January 3rd against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, which will be a showdown for 1st place in the South Central Conference.
